Reader’s Question: How do I find out when I will get my state pension?

Reader’s Question:

My date of birth is 26/07/1951, when will I get my state pension?

My response:

Unfortunately you do not state whether you are male or female as it will make a difference. For men the current state retirement age is 65. But for women the state pension age is increasing from 60 to 65 between April 2010 and November 2018 and there will be an accelerated increase between April 2016 and November 2018.

So for women their state pension age depends on when they were born. Fortunately there is a ‘state pension age calculator‘ which cuts through these complexities and gives you your exact retirement date. So I’ve run the calculator for you and the results are given below:

  • Male born 26/07/1951 – retirement date Tuesday 26th July 2016 (at age 65)
  • Female born 26/07/1951 – retirement date Tuesday 6 November 2012 (at age 61 years and 3 months old)

Hope that helps

Best wishes

Damo

About Damien Fahy

When the rest of the City go home at night I switch on my laptop & sit up half the night writing MoneytotheMasses.com. Why? For two reasons. Firstly, because I hate the way the masses are being left to fend for themselves because they can't afford financial advice. Secondly, because no one else will. So I'm trying to rectify this by educating, informing and helping as many people as possible for FREE.
