What is the disability Cost of Living payment?
The Department for Work and Pensions confirmed around 6 million people in the UK who receive certain disability benefits will receive the one-off £150 disability Cost of Living Payment in addition to other support payments they would qualify for. The payment is intended to provide additional support for those with a disability - a breakdown of the full government Cost of Living support package is detailed below.
Who will receive the £150 disability Cost of Living Payment and when will it reach you?
Although the disability Cost of Living Payment will start being paid on 20 September, payments are expected to reach recipients over the course of a few weeks.
If you receive one of the following benefits you may be eligible for the Disability Cost of Living Payment: Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance, Scottish Disability Benefits (Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment), Armed Forces Independence Payment, Constant Attendance Allowance and War Pension Mobility Supplement.
People in receipt of qualifying disability benefits on 25 May 2022 can expect to receive their support payment between 20 September and the beginning of October this year. Those who were either awaiting confirmation of their disability on this date or are in the process of having their eligibility assessed may have to wait longer before they receive their support payment. Only those who received or will receive a qualifying disability payment for 25 May 2022 will receive the disability Cost of Living Payment and the payments will be made automatically to all those who qualify.
