Co-op offers £10 off a £40 shop following cyber attack – Who’s Eligible & How to Claim

co-op £10 off £40 spendThe Co-op has announced a special discount for customers, offering £10 off an in-store shop of £40 or more. This move comes as a direct "thank you" to members for their patience and support after a major cyber attack impacted the retailer's operations and led to the theft of some member data.

Below we explain the full details of the offer, who is eligible and how to make sure you don't miss out, even if you are not currently a Co-op member.

The Co-op £10 offer details

Co-op is giving eligible customers £10 off their in-store purchases when they spend £40 or more. Unfortunately the offer is not available if customers spend under £40, which is a criticism of the offer.

This is a one-off offer, meaning each eligible member can use it just once. The discount is time-sensitive, running for a single week from Wednesday 18th June to Tuesday 24th June 2025.

Who is eligible for the Co-op £10 discount?

The good news is that the offer is quite broad, designed to benefit a large portion of Co-op's customer base:

  • Existing Co-op Members: If you're already signed up to Co-op's loyalty scheme, you are eligible.
  • New Co-op Members: Even if you're not currently a member, you can sign up for the loyalty scheme and claim the discount immediately.

Who is excluded? This specific £10 discount offer is not available to Co-op staff.

How to Claim the £10 Co-op Discount

To redeem the £10 off, you'll need to make a qualifying purchase in a Co-op physical store between the 18th and 24th June 2025. When you reach the checkout, simply present or scan your Co-op membership card when your shop totals £40 or more.

Why is Co-op offering the discount?

This offer is a direct consequence of a major cyber attack that the BBC reported hit the Co-op in late April 2025 and continued into May, which reportedly caused significant operational issues including:

  • Empty Shelves: with some Co-op branches experiencing stock shortages
  • Payment Disruptions
  • Customer data being compromised: Co-op has confirmed that hackers accessed and extracted data affecting a number of past and current members. The compromised personal data included members' names and contact details but not members' passwords, bank or credit card details or transactions.
