Europe's highest court, the European Court of Justice, upheld a European Parliament ruling that operators must reduce the fees they charge for mobile phone roaming across Europe. This is obviously good news for holidaymakers.
Back in 2007 the EU demanded that operators cap the maximum charge for making an inter-Europe call to 35 cents (29p) and 11 cents to receive a call by 2011.
Vodafone, O2, Orange and T-Mobile argued that the European Parliament had overstepped its jurisdiction by implementing the pricing cap.
However, the ECJ said: "The roaming regulation is valid. The community had the right to impose caps on the prices charged by mobile-telephone operators for roaming calls in the interest of the internal market."
