If I am getting a state pension but have a partner under 60 years old in full time work, do I still get the fuel allowance of £250?
My answer:
Yes you do.
To qualify for this year's Winter Fuel Payment (which you refer to) you simply need to have reached the qualifying age (born on or before 5 July 1950) and normally live in Great Britain or Northern Ireland on any day in the week of 20–26 September 2010. The amount you get paid varies depnding on your circumstances but for most people they will receive £250.
However, once your partner qualifies for the Winter Fuel Payment in their own right you will each receive just £125 towards your household's fuel bills.
