Reader Question:
My father only gets a state pension. You hear about thousands of pounds being unclaimed, how can I make sure he is getting everything he is entitled to? He lives alone in a council house.
My Response:
Hi,
You are right to check as your father may well be entitled to Pension Credits or Housing Benefit depending on his circumstances.
Fortunately there is an official and easy to use online tool called Benefits Adviser which can give you a definitive answer. Simply answer questions anonymously about your father's savings, income and outgoings and it will tell you the benefits he may be entitled to.
I hope that helps
Best Wishes
Damien
