The TV License Fee and The BBC – Money of the Masses

One bill it is almost, but not impossible to avoid (see this coming Monday’s money tip) if you watch television, is the TV licence fee which is currently £142.50 a year. The TV licence funds programming (TV and radio) on the BBC and the fact that it is compulsory if you own a television is a sore point with some viewers as well as other broadcasters, who cry foul play because it creates an uncompetitive market. In 2008/09 £3.5billion in licence fees were collected. So where did all the money go?
