- Interest-free period: 56 days on purchases (24.5% APR variable on purchases).
- Fees: No annual fee.
- Pro: You have the ability to earn 1 Avios for nearly every £1 spent, as well as a complimentary companion voucher on British Airways when you spend £20,000 per year.
- Con: Although the travel perks are tempting, there are other cards from the American Express range which have more non-travel perks for a comprehensive user experience, such as the The American Express Rewards credit card, which offers gift cards and discounts at several popular high street retailers, including M&S and Selfridges.

British Airways American Express Premium Plus
- Representative APR: 101.1% variable.
- Introductory offer: Earn 40,000 bonus Avios when you spend £3,000 in your first three months.
- Interest-free period: 56 days on purchases (24.5% APR variable on purchases).
- Fees: £250 annual fee.
- Pro: If you spend more than £10,000 per year, you are entitled to a complimentary companion voucher on British Airways, so you can take someone with you on your travels. You can also be covered for travel inconvenience, such as if your flight or baggage is delayed, and up to £250,000 cover on public transport.
- Con: The high APR.
British Airways American Express Accelerating Business
- Representative APR: 96.7% variable.
- Introductory offer: Earn 60,000 Avios if you spend more than £5000 in the first three months
- Interest-free period: 56 days on purchases (24.5% APR variable on purchases).
- Fees: £250 annual fee.
- Pro: As well as allowing you to earn Avios (1.5 for every eligible £1 spent), this card also allows you to collect On Business points (2 for every eligible £1 spent), which you can redeem on business trips on British Airways, Iberia, and American Airlines. You can even claim on items purchased with your card if they are stolen or damaged within 90 days, or get a refund of up to £2,500 per eligible item.
- Con: The relatively high annual fee.
The Platinum Card

- Fees: £575 annual fee.
- Pro: As well as allowing you to earn Avios points, this card gives you complimentary access to over 1,200 airport lounges across more than 130 countries worldwide, with global travel insurance for you and your family, plus hotel room upgrades and late check-out times, making it a great option for frequent travellers - whether on your own or with family.
- Con: Very high annual fee.
