Boots cuts points earned on Advantage Card but introduces 10% discount offer

Get 10% off with your Boots Advantage Card from May - find out how

Boots Advantage Card holders will see their points for spending drop from May 2023 as the retailer introduces a change to its loyalty scheme. At the same time, Boots is introducing a discount offer for Advantage Card holders on its own brand range which features over 6,000 products.

In this article, we explain the changes to the Boots Advantage Card terms including how to get the 10% discount, what happens to your existing Boots Advantage Card points and how to sign up if you are not a current Boots Advantage Card holder.

What are the changes to the Boots Advantage Card?

From May 2023, Boots will reduce the amount that its Advantage Card holders can earn on the money they spend in the health and beauty retailer. At present, Boots Advantage Card holders earn 4p worth of points for every £1 spent but this will be reduced to 3p worth of points from early May.

You can check your Boots Advantage Card balance via the Boots app, via your Boots account online or by asking an employee at the till in a Boots store. You can then choose to use your points instead of cash next time you shop with Boots. At present, 1 Boots Advantage Card point is worth 1p and so 1,000 Advantage Card points are worth £10 which can then be spent on Boots purchases.

It is worth noting that not all purchases are eligible to earn points and you cannot spend using your points for some items, more information on eligible purchases can be found in the Boots Advantage Card T&Cs.

Despite the reduction in the number of points cardholders can earn, Boots is also introducing a discount on over 6,000 of its own-brand items which means that any time you spend using your Boots Advantage Card, both in-store and online, you can benefit from an automatic 10% discount.

Why is Boots changing its Advantage Card terms?

Boots says the introduction of its discount offer is in response to requests from customers to save more money when shopping at Boots.

Boots says, "We have responded to feedback from our customers on how they would like to shop and get great value from Boots. We understand that more customers are looking at accessing instant savings, so offering 10% off our Boots own brand range will give even more opportunities to save. We understand that many customers still love saving up their points for big purchases in the future, so will continue to offer 3p worth of points for every £1 spent at Boots."

What happens to my existing Boots Advantage Card points?

If you have collected an existing points balance with Boots these will remain unaffected by the points change in May and you will be able to spend your existing points as usual.

How to get the Boots Advantage Card discount and points

If you would like to take advantage of the new Boots Advantage Card terms you can do so by signing up for a Boots Advantage Card, existing Boots Advantage Card holders will automatically benefit from the discount offer from May 2023. You can sign up for a Boots Advantage Card online or by picking up a physical Advantage Card in-store.
