With a mere 2% difference in the overall results for the top three slots, competition for top spot was extremely tight. Back in August 2024, Monzo topped the tables, narrowly followed by Starling and Chase, with a similar 2% gap between the three favourites.
The latest survey results were produced by Ipsos on behalf of the Competition and Markets Authority on Monday (February 17). The survey is part of a regulatory requirement and is conducted by polling approximately 1,000 customers from each of the 17 largest personal account providers in Great Britain. There's a separate survey for customers in Northern Ireland.
Branchless banks topped the list - First Direct, another digital-only bank - came fourth with 75% of customers saying they'd recommend them. High-street bank Nationwide came 5th, with 69% recommending their services, while Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Metro Bank and Barclays formed the latter half of the top ten.
While Chase has been voted Britain's best bank for overall service quality, Ipsos also had separate categories for online and mobile banking services, overdraft services, and services in branches. We take a closer look at the breakdown of Britain's favourite banks below.
