How are existing John Lewis Partnership credit card holders affected?
If you are an existing John Lewis Partnership cardholder you will need to reapply for the credit card as your current John Lewis Partnership credit card will be unavailable for you to use from 6pm on 31st October 2022. If you do not wish to continue using your John Lewis Partnership credit card, you will not be able to use your credit card from the end of October, but you will still be responsible for clearing any remaining balance on the card and will therefore need to continue to make any repayments until you have cleared the balance. You won't be able to use your card for any purchases from 6pm on 31st October 2022.
What happens to my existing Partnership card balance?
If you apply for a new John Lewis Partnership credit card before the 31st December 2022 your existing balance will be transferred onto your new card. If you decide you do not want to open a new account, the balance will remain on your existing card and you will need to continue paying this off until the balance is zero.
Do I still get to use my loyalty points?
You can still earn loyalty points on your current John Lewis Partnership card up until 31st October 2022 when your card will no longer work. Once your account has been closed you can still keep your loyalty points and if you have met the 500-point threshold required to receive a voucher, you will still receive this in October. If you have less than 500 points and open a new John Lewis Partnership credit card, these will be transferred onto your new card but if you do not open a new card the points will be lost.
How to close your existing John Lewis Partnership credit card
Your existing John Lewis Partnership credit card will close automatically on 1st November 2022 if the balance is £0. However, if your account carries a balance, your card can no longer be used for spending (from 31st October 2022) but your account will be kept open until the balance has been repaid. If your balance is zero and you would like to close your credit card account with John Lewis prior to 1st November 2022, you can do so by calling 0345 300 3833.
