Who is Ageas?

Ageas car insurance logoAgeas, originally known as AG Insurance, has its roots in Belgium where it was founded in 1824. Ageas is one of the largest UK car insurers offering car, motor travel and business insurance to over 4 million customers.

Ageas car insurance policies

Ageas offers a variety of car insurance policies, including single car, multi-car, and telematics cover (Often referred to as a 'Black Box cover') via the Octo telematics app.

Ageas car insurance extra benefits

Courtesy car

If your car is involved in an accident you will be provided with a small courtesy car while your car is being repaired by one of the approved repairers.

Overnight accommodation or onward transport

If your car is involved in an accident and not roadworthy then transport will be arranged to your planned UK destination or your home. Alternatively, you will be reimbursed the cost of travel to your planned UK destination or your home up to a cost of £150 per person (total of £400). If you cannot complete the journey that day then you can claim for overnight accommodation up to £50 per person (total of £250).

Audio navigation and entertainment equipment

Unlimited claim for the repair/replacement of audio, navigation or entertainment equipment fitted by the car manufacturer. Up to £300 for non-original equipment provided it is permanently fitted to the car.

Personal accident

Up to £5,000 per person for injuries sustained by you and your passengers in an accident (total of £10,000 in any one accident).

Medical expenses

Up to £300 per person for medical expenses for you or your passengers for injuries sustained in an accident involving your car.

Windscreen cover

Cover for the cost of replacing or repairing the windscreen, windows or sunroof if damaged. The cover will also extend to the bodywork that has been damaged by broken glass. The first £60 of a claim is not covered if the glass is replaced rather than repaired. The first £15 of a claim is not covered if the repairer is not approved by Ageas.

Personal belongings

Up to £300 for loss or damage to personal belongings as a result of an accident, fire or theft.

Child car seat

Cost of replacing a child car seat damaged in an accident.

Misfuelling

Cost of draining the fuel tank and the fuel car's fuel system and any damage to the car's engine that is a direct result of accidental misfuelling.

Driving a car that does not belong to you

Cover when using a car that does not belong to you providing your current insurance certificate allows you to do so and you have the owner's permission.

Driving abroad

Comprehensive cover for travel within the EU for up to 90 days in any period of insurance.

Replacement keys and locks

Up to £500 towards the cost of replacing keys, lock transmitter or entry card for a keyless entry system.

No claims discount protection

You will not lose any no claims discount (NCD) as long as:

  • No more than 2 claims are made in the 3 year period immediately before your renewal.
  • You have paid the relevant additional premium requested to protect your NCD.

After a second claim is made in any 3 year period your NCD will no longer be protected and any further claims will result in the loss or reduction of your NCD. Claims under Windscreen cover or Replacement keys and locks will not affect your NCD.

Uninsured driver promise

If you are involved in an accident with an uninsured driver you will be reimbursed your excess and your NCD will be reinstated.

Ageas car insurance ranked 10th out of 41 analysed by the consumer website Which? Independent customer review site Trustpilot rates Ageas as 'Excellent' with a rating of 4.3 out 5.0. The ease of application online was cited as a major positive with Ageas car insurance but the high interest rate (currently 29.9%) for monthly payments is seen as a negative.

Ageas is the 4th largest UK insurer and offers a range of car insurance policies with a good number of additional features you would expect from such a large insurance provider.
