Disney+ is increasing its UK subscription prices for the second time in just over a year, with costs rising by up to £24 annually. The streaming service has raised the price of all its monthly and annual plans, including its cheapest 'Standard with Ads' tier. For existing customers, the new prices will start from their first billing date on or after 4th November 2025.
What are the new Disney+ prices?
All three of the Disney+ tiers have increased in price for both new and existing subscribers. The 'Premium' plan sees the sharpest rise, increasing by £2 per month or £20 a year for those with an annual subscription. Here is a full breakdown of the changes and the features for each plan:
| Plan | New Monthly Price | New Annual Price | Ads | Video Quality | Concurrent streams allowed | Can you download content? |
| Standard with Ads | £5.99 (was £4.99) | N/A | Yes | 1080p Full HD | 2 | No |
| Standard | £9.99 (was £8.99) | £99.90 (was £89.90) | No | 1080p Full HD | 2 | Yes |
| Premium | £14.99 (was £12.99) | £149.90 (was £129.90) | No | 4K UHD & HDR | 4 | Yes |
When does the price rise take effect?
The timing of the price hike depends on whether you are a new or existing customer.
- New customers: The new prices are already in effect, as of 30th September 2025.
- Existing monthly customers: You will pay the new price on your first billing date on or after 4th November 2025.
- Existing annual customers: The new price will apply on your next renewal date on or after 25th November 2025. This means if your annual plan renews before that date, you will lock in the old price for another 12 months.
How to cut the cost of a Disney+ subscription
There are several ways that you can reduce the cost of a Disney+ subscription:
Pay annually instead of monthly
If you know you will use the service all year, paying annually is cheaper than paying monthly. An annual 'Standard' plan (£99.90) saves £19.98 compared to paying £9.99 a month for 12 months (£119.88 total). An annual 'Premium' plan (£149.90) saves £29.98 compared to paying £14.99 a month for 12 months (£179.88 total). It is worth noting that the 'Standard with Ads' plan does not allow you to pay annually.
Review your subscription tier
Use this as an opportunity to check whether you're on the right plan. If you are on the 'Premium' tier but don't watch in 4K or use more than two screens at once, you could downgrade to the 'Standard' plan and save £5 a month (£60 a year). If you don't mind adverts, downgrading to 'Standard with Ads' would save you £4 a month (£48 a year) compared to the 'Standard' plan and £9 a month compared to the 'Premium' plan.
Take a break
If you pay for your subscription on a monthly basis, you are not locked into a long-term contract. This means you can cancel at any time and re-subscribe later. If you find you're not using the service much, consider taking a break for a few months. You can then sign up again when new shows you want to watch have been released, allowing you to watch everything in one go before cancelling again. By only staying subscribed for part of the year, for example, 6 months instead of 12, you could potentially halve your annual cost
Check for third-party deals
You may be able to get Disney+ for less, or even for free, through another service you already use.
- Uber One: An annual Uber One membership (£49.99) includes a free 12-month Disney+ 'Standard' plan. This is £50 cheaper than buying the new £99.90 annual plan directly.
- Bank Accounts: Some bank accounts offer free streaming as a perk. For example, the Club Lloyds current account lets you choose a 12-month 'Standard with Ads' plan as a free lifestyle benefit. If you are considering changing banks for the perks, you might also qualify for up to £200 cashback for switching. Check out our article 'Best bank account switching offers'
- Mobile Providers: O2 customers can add Disney+ as an 'Extra', which can include a free period of 3-6 months or a £2 monthly discount on your airtime bill.
- Loyalty Schemes: Tesco Clubcard allows you to exchange your vouchers for a Disney+ subscription, often at a rate that saves you money.
- Cashback Sites: If you are a new Disney+ customer, you can sign up via a cashback site like Topcashback and get up to £13 cashback. If you are new to Topcashback, sign up to the Money to the Masses newsletter and get an additional £10 cashback bonus.
Is Disney+ worth it?
The latest Disney+ price rise is part of a wider trend, with services like Spotify, Netflix and Apple TV+ also increasing their prices in the last year. Disney+ has also been cracking down on password sharing outside the home, now charging an 'Extra Member' fee for those who wish to share their account. These regular price hikes make it more important than ever to regularly review your subscriptions, cancel any you no longer get value from, and check if you can get a better deal elsewhere.
