Low-cost investment platform Vanguard has just launched a mobile app designed for its customers based in the UK. On its website, the company calls the Vanguard app "a work in progress" with "lots of features to get you started and plenty more to come".
The news comes after Vanguard announced its plans to test and launch an app for its UK audience earlier this year. Existing Vanguard customers were asked to help test the app which is now available to download via the App Store and Google Play store.
How to download the new Vanguard app
To download the Vanguard app, you'll need to have a Vanguard account (which you can currently only open via the website). Once you've opened your Vanguard account, head to the App Store or Google Play Store and search for the "Vanguard UK" app.
The app is compatible with iPhones running iOS 16.0 or above and if you have an Android phone, you'll need to be running Android version 8.0 or above to run the app. If you have difficulty accessing the app, Vanguard suggests ensuring you have the latest version of your phone's software as well as the latest version of the app. The app is not currently accessible via a tablet.
What features can you access via the new Vanguard app?
The new Vanguard app may be a work in progress, but there are already several features available to Vanguard customers. Customers can check how their various Vanguard accounts are performing, including their ISA, JISA, and SIPP.
Customers can also:
- Buy or sell funds (but not ETFs just yet)
- Set up monthly payments
- See transactions and check the status of orders
- Top up the account via the app
While the app is a work in progress, it's good news for Vanguard customers who previously only had browser access to their investments. Many other major investment platforms already have mobile apps in place making it easier to see how investments are performing and make trades on the go. Vanguard's new app is likely to appeal to investors who prefer the mobile experience.
