Single Trip
Single trip travel insurance is designed to cover the cost of a single trip abroad for an individual, couple or family for up to 12 months. A family is considered as 2 adults and up to 9 children under the age of 18. Single trip travel insurance is better for those that do not travel often, those that travel more than twice a year may benefit from an annual multi-trip policy.
Annual multi-trip
Annual multi-trip travel insurance is designed to cover multiple trips in a policy year and can be a more cost-effective option than multiple single trip policies. Whilst CoverForYou's annual multi-trip travel insurance policies will insure multiple trips in a year, there is a maximum limit of 62 days per trip depending on the travel insurance policy you choose. You can get annual multi-trip travel insurance as an individual, couple or family.
Backpacker
Backpacker travel insurance is good for trips that are going to last for a long time, typically over a year, and may be suitable for those wishing to take a gap year. CoverForYou's backpacker travel insurance will cover a trip for up to 18 months and includes a range of cover for sports and activities whilst you are away. You may also have the option to add extreme sports cover for activities such as scuba diving.

We explain some of the covid-19 cover you can expect with a CoverForYou policy below but we recommend that you read your policy documents carefully to ensure you know exactly what you are covered for. It is also worth noting that in most cases you will be required to provide proof of covid-19 status with confirmation from a medical professional, public health board or a positive covid-19 test. You will not be covered for coronavirus related claims with CoverForYou if you travel against FCDO advice.
Does CoverForYou travel insurance cover pre-existing medical conditions?
CoverForYou does not cover undeclared pre-existing medical conditions so it is imperative that these are declared throughout the quotation process. CoverForYou aims to cover most pre-existing medical conditions but for any condition it cannot cover you would need to seek cover from a specialist. More information on specialist travel insurers that cover pre-existing conditions can be found on the Money Helper website.
CoverForYou describes a pre-existing medical condition as any medical condition for which you have received prescribed medication or treatment within the last 12 months. CoverForYou also classes the following medical conditions as pre-existing conditions if you have received treatment or taken prescribed medication for the condition in the past 5 years:
- Diabetes
- Cancerous conditions
- Heart conditions
- Respiratory conditions
- High blood pressure and/or high cholesterol
- Renal, kidney or liver conditions
- Neurological conditions eg stroke
- Mental health conditions
It is important that you declare all pre-existing medical conditions as not doing so could prevent a successful claim.

Policy | Age limit (years) |
Single trip | 18 - No upper age limit |

Summary
Overall, CoverForYou has a lot of choice when it comes to tailoring your travel insurance policy to suit your trip and the option to add additional policies for cover such as winter sports, cruise cover, golf and gadget cover will be appealing to some travellers. CoverForYou offers a good level of emergency medical cover but it is possible to get more elsewhere and potentially at a lower cost. Its cancellation cover, however, is slightly more generous than most travel insurance providers at £7,500. One standout feature is that it doesn't charge a policy excess when claiming, a rarity in the travel insurance space. As with all travel insurance policies, it is best to shop around to ensure you are getting the best deal for your trip. One of the easiest ways to do this is via a comparison site such as Quotezone* or MoneySuperMarket*.
